Day 25 - To Kuala Lumpur
An early breakfast, to the sounds of 'Oh Come all ye Faithful' and 'Silent Night' we took a taxi to the Airport for our short flight to Kuala Lumpur.
Things didnt go well today.
Firstly we had a bit of a scare at Singapore immigration. I got through ok but the automated recognition system didnt work for Paul. He was led away to a manned desk behind a screen. There he had another photo check and his fingerprints were taken. Good thing we had plenty of time. He was eventually let through.
The flight left on time and arrived early. Neither of us could pass through immigration gates at KL and we were told we hadnt filled in the online advance arrival notification. We did it when arriving from Melbourne but it has to be done for each arrival. We were shown to computer screens where we had to fill the details in again. However I didnt put our middle names and we were rejected again so had to try again. We then got the train to the city. Using transport here requires you to tap on at the start and off at the end with a contactless card. All went well but Paul had a problem tapping off and needed help. We went to the taxi desk and paid cash and got into the car and we were taken to the hotel. It was raining very heavily. Later on I realised I didnt have my credit card. We have looked everywhere but I assume I dropped it while getting the taxi. Its annoying as I lost my debit card in the same way in Sydney and had to freeze it. I have frozen the credit card now but need to find out how I can use public transport with an alternate method of payment.
We have a lovely suite on the 25th floor with great views of the Petronas Towers and the TV tower.
We had a nice buffet at the hotel and watched the high rise buildings light up as darkness fell.
We then walked over to a couple of big shopping centres. The first has been built since our last visit. It is called La La Port and has a huge outdoor food corridor and 5 floors of shops.
The second was Berjaya Times Square which we did visit before. Considering this is a Muslim country, the shopping centre foyer had one of the best Christmas displays I have ever seen, complete with Christmas carols playing. The locals and their children loved it.
