Day 7 - Return to Sydney

I was still awake early. I went for a swim in the hotel pool when it opened at 6.30.  The water was lovely and warm and I had it to myself.

We had a leisurely breakfast then made for the airport for our flight back to Sydney.  I wish we had booked longer as there is a lot to see and do in thi

s area but we did do the 2 main attractions, Great Barrier Reef  and Rainforest.

Our flight appeared to be on time. They boarded the priority boarding passengers and those needing assistance.  The rest of us waited and waited.   Eventually 2 policemen arrived and went down to the plane. They emerged sometime later with an elderly Japanese lady in a wheelchair who was talking on her mobile phone.  We were then allowed to board.  The captain said the delay was due to a medical emergency.  We left 45 minutes late and had good views of the reef again from the  air.

Then, as we landed and the wheels touched the ground, we took off again.  Apparently, a gust of wind had caught the plane and the safest thing to do was to abort landing.  While preparing to land for a second time we had some great views of Sydney.

Back in the hotel we spent a long time repacking ready for our trip to Melbourne tomorrow.
