Day 23 - Singapore
Its Saturday so we began with parkrun at Bay East Gardens. It started at 7.30am so we got a taxi at 6.30. Paul did it as well. We were both hot and sticky before we even started as it was very humid.
We were back at the hotel before 9 so showered and had a leisurely breakfast.
Later we walked around Fort Canning Park which is a hilltop park so we were dripping wet when we finished climbing to the top. There is an archeological dig going on there where they have found remains from an ancient settlement. There are also many colonial buildings, a spice garden and very old trees.
After we went to Little India. Paul visited before but I have never been. It has a unique smell, like I imagine Dehli to have. Lots of indian music coming from shops. There are exotic fruit stalls, clothes shops, tailors making suits and dresses at sewing machines in the street. You really feel you are in India until you see street names like 'Hastings Street', 'Dorset Street' and 'Maud Road'.
After eating we headed to Orchard Road. Someone at our hotel had said that the Christmas decorations were amazing. They were not wrong. We walked along the street and into some of the stores. It really felt like Christmas although they were playing more Disney type music than Christmas songs. It was a lovely atmosphere despite the heat.
